FEAR – The Other Side of Excitement

I don’t honestly recall having too much fear growing up. I mean as a child you think of the “boogie man” in the shadows or being frightened if someone jumped out at you unexpectedly, (the games we play as children). Excitement, well that was birthdays, Christmas, School Holidays, spending QT with Mum and Dad (being present in the moment), creating things out of nothing, dance and more.

As children, we are born into this world with a blank canvas, we learn from our parents, those around us, the world that we are exposed to. FEAR is something that is learned and given time, those FEARS are set and used to get us safely through daily life.

Fast forward to doing the adulting thing, fear comes in many different forms and with it brings on a whole new litany of things that one must process and walk through – of course, mustering up the courage to push thru the FEAR Fog to get to the “other side”.  Which, if done, culminates in a massive positive exhale, high five, doing the happy dance and achieving the desired outcome.

Fear also has this uncanny knack of showing up at the most inopportune times, when you least expect it and typically when decisions need to be made regardless of if it is a huge life-changing one or something simple like walking out the door.

It takes time, self-awareness, and the desire to learn what your fears are how they are integrated in with self-sabotage, what triggers them, to learn where they came from (typically a childhood learning), why fear still exists in adulthood, whether the fear still serves you and of course, how you can work on your fear to use it to your advantage to find the momentum to move through it and forward in life.

Why Support Isn’t Just Nice to Have – It’s What Makes Courage Possible We often talk about self-belief like it’s something you build in isolation. Just try harder, think more positively, do the work. And yes, there’s effort involved. But what’s often missing from that picture is belonging: feeling truly supported, seen, and accepted by […]

When You’re Tired and Still Saying Yes: The Hidden Cost of Overfunctioning

There’s a quiet kind of burnout that creeps in slowly, one boundary-less day at a time.It doesn’t always come from major life events or overwhelming trauma.Sometimes, it comes from saying “yes” when we’re tired. From taking on just one more thing, because we feel like we should. From holding everything together so well on the outside […]
